Flexagene: Joint Supplement

Flexagene: Joint SupplementWhen the manufacturer first sent me this product to review, I was immediately impressed by its credentials. But not wanting to take anything at face value, I investigated further. Glad I did! I didn't know any alternatives to the old standbys of Glucosamine and Chondroitin, but Flexagene proves to be an effective option. Let's take a look at this joint relief product.

What Is It?
Flexagene is a joint support supplement. Flexagene’s formula contains two powerful nutrients – Vincaria and RNI 249 - which have been linked to reducing inflammation and triggering joint repair. Vincara is a patented extract of Uncaria guianensis, which is a large woody vine that grows in the Amazon rain forest. RNI 249 is a patent-pending extract of Lepidium meyenii, an unusually hardy plant that grows in Peru’s Junin Plateau. Wow – talk about global ingredients! Together these two nutrients have won the “Innovation in Research” award from the National Institutes of Health’s Institutes on Aging.

What Do They Say it Does?
The ingredients of Flexagene are formulated to support joint health in two ways.
  • Vincaria is believed to turn off a gene that’s the most important protein in turning off your body’s inflammation “switch” and therefore turning off the joint aches and stiffness that goes with it.
  • RNI 249 is believed to activate the gene for IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor-1), which is a hormone responsible for building lean muscle and bone mass, normalizing blood sugar levels, and burning stored fat, among other things. By turning on the gene responsible for producing IGF-1, RNI 249 triggers joint repair within cartilage, bone and muscle.

Research has also shown that the dual-action powers of these ingredients may work up to six times faster than Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate. Now that’s rapid relief!

Main Ingredients: RNI-249 (Maca: Lepidium meyenii root extract); Vincaria (Cat’s Claw: Uncaria guianensis bark extract).
Other Ingredients: Rice, Flour, Gelatin, Silica, Magnesium Stearate.

What We Like
There are no known side effects or interactions with Flexagene, and this is clearly printed on the bottle. The packaging contains an expiration date and a lot number for reference, as well as a toll-free number for questions or reorders.

What We Don’t Like
The packaging was a bit difficult to get into (requiring a scissors) and was quite generic-looking, which might cause it to easily get confused with other pill bottles if you take multiple supplements. Also, you need to make sure to store the product in a cool, dry place below 85 degrees, so if you live in an area with warm, humid temperatures you need to be cognizant of that.

As always, check with your doctor before starting any new supplements because there are several options out there. For example, there's also Flexacine, Joint Revive, CapraFlex, and Joint-Rx, just to name a few. Overall we think Flexagene is a great joint supplement, and we give it a 4+ rating.
